Making ecology rhyme with economy thanks to LEDs

BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions France proposes a solutions for reducing city electricity bills by 41% thereby reducing France public spending by 820 million euros.

BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions confirms its commitment in favour of the energy transition. After the launch in late 2016 of its financing offer for LED lighting in the private sector (private premises and lands) in France, BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions is extending its offer to the public space (urban areas and open countryside, roads, pedestrian paths, lighting of buildings, motorways and rapid roadways).

In a context of declining allocations for communities, urban lighting is often difficult to finance even though improvements and lower costs for this item are both possible. Indeed, BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions is proposing that French cities should switch to a leasing model (2 to 7 years) with the use of LED equipment. This will ensure proven lighting efficiency, reduce expenses and ensure efficient oversight of their costs. Overall, if public areas switched to LED lighting, nearly 41% of the €2 billion of annual urban lighting expenses would be saved.

In addition to savings on the electricity bill, the financed LED lighting systems can help communities to obtain Energy Savings Certificates.

The strong commitment of BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions alongside our manufacturers is key for accelerating the switch of public lighting to LED technology, leading to unquestioned energy savings and new services for our fellow citizens” stated Julien Arnal, President of the Syndicat de l’Eclairage.

As an extension of the commitment made by the BNP Paribas Group to devote €15 billion to the financing of renewable energies while strengthening its carbon risk management system, BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions France has decided to extend its LED lighting offer to public spaces. In their cities, French taxpayers will have the benefit of brighter lighting that’s safer, more economical and with lower maintenance costs. This solution is now possible thanks to leasing that will allow communities to reduce their lighting expense while offering 80% greater illumination performance. More than 9.5 million lighting fixtures should benefit from this technological and economic leap. The future belongs to LEDs! declares Alain Escoffier, Chief Executive Officer of BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions in France.
